BTW – a little side effect of this gridlock is that the indigent defense fund is out of money. Until the bill passes, nobody who does court appointed cases gets paid. I know several attorneys who are scrambling to figure out how to pay their mortgages and buy groceries this month. I doubt most will care, it’s not like even pro-bono type lawyers are all that sympathetic. But it is a huge problem for these families.
